Expectations & Requirements

Minimum Expectations Of Volunteers:

  • Act in an honest & reliable way
  • Uphold the organisation’s aims & values
  • Respect the need for confidentiality
  • Work within the law, agreed policies & guidelines, remits & code of practice of the organisation
  • Foster a positive attitude to & relationship with service users, staff & volunteers of the organisation
  • Carry out duties & tasks effectively in a safe & sensitive manner to the satisfaction of the organisation

Minimum Requirements For Organisations:

  • To have a recruitment & selection procedure for interviewing prospective volunteers & taking up references
  • To provide induction training appropriate to the tasks & duties to be undertaken by volunteers. Such training should always include health & safety & confidentiality issues
  • To provide appropriate ongoing training if required
  • To ensure that volunteers have a clear task description
  • To have appropriate insurance in place
  • To provide reasonable out of pocket expenses
  • To ensure volunteers have a named individual to refer to for support
