Positive Pathways
Positive Pathways is a free 12-week employability programme for unemployed individuals over the age of 16 living in North Ayrshire. Designed to support and empower people who feel stuck, unmotivated, or unsure about their next steps, this programme helps participants move forward with confidence, purpose, and new skills.
Delivered by The Ayrshire Community Trust (TACT) and funded by North Ayrshire Council Your Next Move the programme includes:
- 4 weeks of in-house personal development and training
- 6–8 weeks of supported volunteer placements
- Access to free accredited courses
- One-to-one coaching and employability support throughout

STEPS to Excellence
A motivational personal development course that builds confidence, challenges limiting beliefs, and helps you realise your full potential. Delivered over two days a week for two weeks, this is a really beneficial course that will help you set goals, feel more confident moving into volunteering or employment.
Community College Courses
We work in partnership with Ayrshire College to offer new qualifications and training opportunities for our clients, right now, we offer: SCQF Level 4 Health and Wellbeing and Elevate both courses boost skills, teamwork, communication and improve your employability options. Upon completion, each participant will be awarded the relevant SQA certificate, which can then be added to your CV! These are free courses available to anyone on Universal Credit.
CBT Coach
Our Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) sessions provide a safe, supportive space to explore challenges and develop practical strategies for positive change. This fantastic new resource is available to Positive Pathways participants and can help with a range of issues, including mental and physical health concerns, low confidence, stress, and anxiety.
Through guided sessions, participants can learn new coping techniques, build resilience, and move towards a healthier, more positive future.
Employability & E-Learning Support
We can support you with updating your CV, improving your interview skills, and access free online training to boost your qualifications.
Volunteering Placements
We’ll help you find a hands-on placement that suits your interests and career goals. Gain practical experience, build references, and connect with your local community. We centre this around you and what you would like to do to help you find and move into sustainable employment. Upon completion of an agreed work placement, participants will be eligible for a gift voucher.

To take part in the project, you must be unemployed, living in North Ayrshire, and not currently attending college or any other funded training programme.
No, it won’t. Volunteering is a great way to build confidence and develop new life skills. The DWP recognises volunteering as a positive step towards improving your employability and preparing for future opportunities.
