Kindness Krew

The Kindness Krew is a community volunteer initiative that was launched in mid-March 2024, supporting the communities of Irvine, Kilwinning and the Three Towns (Ardrossan, Saltcoats and Stevenston) in North Ayrshire. We are delighted to say we are rolling out support in the Garnock Valley and North Coast later in 2025 to ensure the Kindness Krew supports all communities on mainland North Ayrshire.

A little bit of history, the project came to life from the TACT staff reflections during the pandemic, when they recognised the growing need to support the most isolated and vulnerable individuals within their communities.

The primary mission of the Kindness Krew is to combat social isolation and foster a sense of belonging by connecting volunteers with those who need support the most. Aimed at promoting acts of kindness, fostering healthy relationships and also creating new friendship circles within the community – thereby enhancing the overall well-being of all involved.

Volunteers from across the towns work together to share acts of kindness, whether its through, offering companionship, or providing a helping hand with everyday tasks. The initiative is built on the belief that small acts of kindness can have a big impact, especially for those who feel alone or disconnected from their communities.

Through the power of volunteering, the Kindness Krew aims to make a big difference in the lives of people struggling with loneliness, health issues or other challenges. By creating a network of support, the initiative not only helps individuals in need but also strengthens the bonds within the wider community. The Kindness Krew is a shining example of how local communities can come together to create positive change and ensure that no one is left behind.

To achieve our goal of combatting isolation and fostering a sense of belonging, we are reliant on volunteers willing to contribute their time, skills and efforts to make a positive impact on their local community.
